Nestled in Xiulin Township, Hualien County, the "Sisil Cultural Academy" represents our long-term post-disaster practice in responding to local community needs. Jointly promoted and completed in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Taipei Swanshie and the Rotary Club of Daito (Osaka, Japan), this initiative has consistently placed education and culture at its core—from initial field research to architectural design and ultimate implementation.
Taking tribal culture as its departure point, the project conceives space as a vital medium for carrying memories and connecting generations, responding to the local environment and communal habits through mindful material choices and structural tectonics.

The academy is named after "Sisil," the sacred bird that symbolizes guidance and protection in Truku culture. We have translated this spiritual image into a spatial concept, transforming the academy into a vessel that bridges knowledge with tribal heritage. The overall design features warm timber textures integrated with local craftsmanship and cultural elements, while incorporating digital facilities to support intergenerational co-learning. It is our hope that this space extends far beyond the school campus into the entire tribe, serving as a vibrant catalyst for continuous exchange, learning, and cultural accumulation.
